Link2YouTube is a free, independent utility. It is available as an iOS application and a Chrome browser extension. Its sole purpose is to convert YouTube URLs entered by the user into deep links that open directly in the YouTube app, or to copy a cleaned version of the URL to the clipboard.
Link2YouTube is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by YouTube, Google LLC, Apple Inc., or any of their subsidiaries. "YouTube" is a registered trademark of Google LLC. Use of the name is purely descriptive and refers to the service this utility is designed to work with.
Link2YouTube does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal data. Specifically:
— The iOS app processes all URLs locally on your device. No data leaves your device.
— The browser extension does not send any browsing data, URLs, or clipboard contents to any server.
— The website does not use analytics, tracking cookies, or advertising scripts.
— No account registration is required.
The iOS app and browser extension may read from and write to your device clipboard, but only when you explicitly tap the "Paste from Clipboard" or "Copy Link" buttons. This data is never transmitted anywhere and is used solely to populate the URL input field or copy a converted link to your clipboard.
When you open a link, it is launched in the YouTube app or browser. At that point you are subject to YouTube's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which are independent of this application. Link2YouTube has no control over and accepts no responsibility for content hosted on YouTube or any other third-party platform.
You are solely responsible for the URLs you enter into Link2YouTube and for any content you access as a result. Do not use this application to access content that violates applicable laws or YouTube's Terms of Service.
This software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. In no event shall the developer be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from the use of this software.
Chrome Extension — Permission Details
The following section explains exactly how the Link2YouTube Chrome Extension uses each browser permission, as required by the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies.
The Link2YouTube extension has one single purpose: to convert YouTube web links into deep links that open directly in the YouTube app. All features (link detection on pages, popup URL input, clipboard copy) serve this single goal.
The activeTab permission is used to scan the current page for YouTube links and inject "▶ Copy Link" buttons next to them. This allows users to instantly copy any YouTube link as a deep link without leaving the page. The extension only accesses the active tab when the user interacts with it — no background scanning occurs.
The clipboardWrite permission is used exclusively to copy the converted YouTube deep link to the user's clipboard when they click "Copy Link" or use the popup. No clipboard data is ever read by the extension, stored, or transmitted to any server.
The extension runs on all URLs (<all_urls>) in order to detect YouTube links on any webpage the user visits — including social media, forums, news sites, and any other page that may contain YouTube URLs. The extension only reads page content to find YouTube links. It does not collect, store, or transmit any data from the pages it scans.
This extension does not use any remote code. All JavaScript, HTML, and CSS are bundled locally within the extension package. No external scripts are loaded or executed at runtime.
